As a kid I was always amazed when I saw people doubledutch (the process of jumping while two ropes are simultaneously moving in an opposite circular motion). I always wondered how they were able to focus on jumping, while also making sure they wouldn’t get hit by the rope. After talking to a friend who did it very well, I walked away with a simple answer—Just Jump In!
I think the same goes for starting a business. When it comes to starting one, many people are like I was. Always trying to find the right angle, timing, moment or even make the right adjustment before they start when all you really need to do is Jump In. Now granted, there are some basic things you need to ask yourself and think about before you jump in:
What problem is your product or service really solving?
How many people have the problem that you are solving?
How are you going to let others know about your product and the problems it solves?
Other things to remember:
Take baby steps – you will make mistakes and learn more as you go so don’t get ahead of yourself.
Don’t be lazy – a successful business does require hard work, so stay diligent about what you need to do to drive your business forward.
Don’t take bad advice – many businesses fail because the owner got their advice from the wrong place, aim for mentors or advisors who are successful in what you are trying to do.
